Kindness is not just about pleasant words and pleasant deeds and pleasing people.
Kindness is the way a grown muscular man opens up his palms just right to give the little bird the room it needs to stand up again and take flight.
It’s being so awake to how one’s actions can affect someone else. Kindness is the discipline it takes a person, in spite of what’s comfortable for them, to allow the other to have the space they need to be who they are.
Kindness is not patronizing, not smothering, not enabling. Most of all, kindness isn’t superficial.
