Arrival

A snapshot. A stop sign. A flashback.

Our life unfolds in these fleeting moments.

Clues of who we are becoming,

stuck between the window panes

hidden between sighs

lying under the ashes.

I sit on top

a flashing hotel sign.

I’ve been waiting for someone to pick me up

all this time.

I stare at the moon,

waiting for answers

but I only get asked why.

It’s been too long,

too cold

too lonely.

But tonight is different.

I crush the cigarette butt.

Tonight, I’m getting up knowing

the one I’ve been waiting for has come,

moon beach

She has arrived.
